Analog Devices AD1815J/1846JP ISA Sound Card
What is it?
The Analog Devices AD1815 is a highly integrated sound chip from the late 1990s and the predecessor of the AD1816. It features Sound Blaster Pro (SB-Pro) and Windows Sound System (WSS) compatibility, and was commonly found on budget Plug-and-Play ISA sound cards of the era.
Drivers are readily available and installation is straightforward. Out of the box, the card auto-configures to EA530 for WSS and EA220, IRQ5, DMA 1/3 for SB-Pro, and the installation routine automatically adds the SET BLASTER string to autoexec.bat. Simply disable the noisy headphone amplifier via jumper, and you have a clean, compatible, and easy-to-use ISA sound card for retro gaming.
If you plan to add a wavetable daughterboard later, look for the variant with a wavetable header.
